AI Research Scientist, PhD

As AI Research Scientist, reporting to the Chief Scientist, you'll lead our advanced research efforts. Your mission is to drive innovation and ensure our AI is state-of-the-art. You will work closely with our data science, development, product, and customer-facing teams to design and implement cutting-edge solutions that deliver real business value.
This role requires a deep understanding of AI, machine learning, knowledge graph, and predictive analytics, coupled with the ability to collaborate with a team of data scientists and software engineers in multiple R&D centers. You must excel in designing, building, optimizing, and utilizing Knowledge Graphs and their ontologies, as these are essential for addressing complex, open-ended challenges in private markets investment.
Your technical expertise, visionary mindset, and ability to confidently communicate complex concepts to C-level audiences will be key to driving our technology strategy and product evolution.
No two days are the same, but you can expect to:
- Lead the company’s AI research initiatives.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design and implement innovative solutions.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement innovative machine learning architecture for knowledge representation on graph tailored for AI-driven investment insights.
- Fine-tune and train language models to optimize their interaction with graph-based data structures, enhancing retrieval and analysis of highly interconnected entities.
- Build evaluation sets that stress-test models against the complexities of dynamic investment data sourced from diverse, heterogeneous data types (e.g., images, tables, relational data).
- Extend methodologies such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to work within ALPHA10X's highly interconnected graph knowledge base.

What we are looking for:
- PhD in a related field (e.g., AI, machine learning, data science, statistics, probability), from a prestigious university.
- Proficient in Python programming and machine learning research, with a focus on graph-based data structures.
- Experience with developing scalable distributed information systems, including knowledge graphs and advanced retrieval systems.
- Deep understanding of how to design and train models to leverage graph knowledge bases.
- Experience with model design, particularly graph-based models like Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), for tasks such as exogenous node and edge prediction.
- Semantic Web technologies skills: implement technologies like RDF, OWL, and SPARQL to enhance data connectivity, utilizing semantic web standards for data sharing and representation.
- Machine learning with graph data skills: utilize machine learning techniques on graph-structured data, enhancing predictive models and analytical capabilities through graph-based learning.
- Expertise in programming languages and library commonly used in AI and data science, e.g., Python or R, Tensorflow or Pytorch, Darts.
- Working experience with large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Dask …).
- Working experience with large-scale search engines and DBMS (e.g., Elasticsearch, SQL, Neo4j, CosmosDB).
- Experience in Training, Monitoring and deployment of AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics models on Azure and/or Databricks.
- Ability to take responsibility, initiative, and use excellent comprehension skills to develop solutions to complex AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics problems quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
